Mother’s Day

Another beautiful day in Eugene & Springfield Oregon. During my afternoon photography project with CeaseFire Oregon, I caught these three photos.

I remember first seeing these flowers 2 or 3 years ago at the Farmers Market. Today, I had a hard time taking my eyes off of them.

While listening to the speeches I caught this unlikely photograph which I love. For me it illustrates the playful youth of all ages, across cultures.

Interview with 90yr old Japanese American

I’ve known Florence my entire life. Today I got to interview for a final. Her story is amazing. As a senior in college, she was sent away to an internment camp in Topeka, Utah for 2 years (after 5 months in in a horse arena where they lived in horse stalls). I’d never seen pictures of her when she was young. Can’t wait to write this fascinating story. This first photo is Florence and her husband Russell. This second photo is of Florence, Russell, and their three children. And the last photo of the entire family before Russell died.

Update: Part of my final is to do a creative presentation of that person’s life philosophy. I finished this painting yesterday. The center symbol is the her Japanese family crest. The apple is because she regards education as one of the most important things in life. The words below are Florence’s.
